The truth is…

Getting approved for Google AdSense in Nigeria is still possible in 2026. A lot of Nigerian bloggers get approved every year.

The problem isn’t that Google has stopped approving Nigerian websites. The problem is that many people apply before their websites are actually ready.

If you build your website properly, publish quality content, and follow Google’s guidelines, getting approved becomes much easier.

In this guide, I’ll show you exactly what you need to do before submitting your application.

Can Nigerians Still Get Google AdSense Approval in 2026?

Yes.

Despite what many people say online, Google AdSense still accepts Nigerian publishers.

Below is a screenshot of the most recent AdSense approval I received in May. That website had only 25 published articles, and 14 of them were already ranking in positions #1–#3 on Google Search.

adsense approval may 2026

The approval process is exactly the same whether you’re in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, India, or the United States.

Google doesn’t reject websites because they’re Nigerian.

Google rejects websites because they don’t meet its quality standards.

That means your location isn’t your biggest problem.

Your website is.

What Google Looks For Before Approving Your Website

A lot of beginners think AdSense checks only one thing.

It doesn’t.

Google reviews your entire website.

They check:

  • Original content
  • Website design
  • User experience
  • Navigation
  • Mobile responsiveness
  • Content quality
  • Website speed
  • Privacy compliance
  • Overall trustworthiness

Google Think of your website like a real business.

Would you advertise your company on a poorly designed website full of copied articles? Hell No!

Well, Same with Google.

Step 1: Buy Your Own Domain Name

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is using free domains.

Examples include:

  • yourblog.blogspot.com
  • yourblog.wordpress.com

While some Blogspot and other free domains do get approved for AdSense, using one comes with limitations.

First, you won’t have the flexibility to create custom subdomains later if you decide to scale into AdSense arbitrage.

Second, if you ever plan to sell your AdSense-approved website, a .blogspot.com domain is much less attractive to buyers. Most serious investors prefer websites with custom domains, unless they have a very specific reason for buying a Blogspot site.

Finally, you don’t truly own the domain. Since it’s hosted on a free platform, you have limited control, and the platform’s policies ultimately determine what happens to your website. A custom domain gives you full ownership, better branding, and greater flexibility for future growth.

A custom domain costs very little compared to the long-term income AdSense can generate.

Choose something:

  • Easy to remember
  • Short
  • Brandable
  • Relevant to your niche

Avoid domains filled with numbers or random words.

Good examples:

  • TechWiseNG.com
  • HealthyLivingHub.com
  • SmartMoneyGuide.com

Step 2: Use Reliable Web Hosting

If you’re just starting out, here’s what I’d recommend: don’t rush to pay for web hosting. Instead, buy a custom domain and connect it to Blogger.

Focus on publishing high-quality content first.

From my experience, some of my highest-traffic and best-earning websites have been built on Blogger. One advantage is that Blogger is Google’s own platform, and I’ve consistently found that quality content on Blogger can rank surprisingly well, often faster than on a brand-new WordPress site with no authority.

That doesn’t mean Blogger is automatically better than WordPress. A well-optimized WordPress website can outperform Blogger over time. But if you’re a beginner with a limited budget, a custom domain on Blogger is a practical and cost-effective way to start building traffic.

If you are going with WordPress Make sure you select a good host.

Slow websites lose visitors.

Google knows this.

Choose hosting that offers:

  • Fast loading
  • SSL certificate
  • Good uptime
  • Daily backups
  • Security

Your website should load quickly on both desktop and mobile devices.

Step 3: Choose One Niche

One common mistake is creating a website about everything.

Today you write about football.

Tomorrow crypto.

Next week health.

Google prefers websites that show expertise.

Examples include:

  • Finance
  • Technology
  • Education
  • Health
  • Agriculture
  • Software
  • Blogging
  • Business
  • Insurance
  • Travel

A focused website builds authority faster.

Step 4: Publish High-Quality Content

This is where most people fail.

Google doesn’t approve websites simply because they have 30 articles.

It approves websites that provide value.

Your articles should:

  • Solve real problems
  • Be original
  • Be easy to read
  • Be well formatted
  • Include headings
  • Avoid grammar mistakes

Instead of writing:

“Top Phones”

Write:

“10 Best Budget Smartphones Under ₦150,000 in Nigeria (2026)”

Specific articles usually perform better.

How Many Articles Do You Need?

There isn’t an official number.

However, from experience, I recommend:

  • 25–40 quality articles
  • At least 1,000 words each
  • Completely original
  • Properly formatted

Quality always beats quantity.

Ten excellent articles are better than AI-generated 5000 words articles with no value.

Step 5: Don’t Copy Content

Google is very good at detecting copied content.

Never copy from:

  • Other blogs
  • Wikipedia
  • News websites
  • PDFs
  • AI without editing

Always write from your own experience and research.

Ask yourself:

Would someone learn something useful from this article?

If the answer is yes, you’re on the right track.

Step 6: Create Important Pages

Many beginners ignore this.

Google expects every professional website to have important legal pages.

Create:

About Us

Tell visitors:

  • Who you are
  • What your website does
  • Your mission

Contact Page

Include:

  • Contact form
  • Email address

This helps build trust.

Privacy Policy

Google requires this.

Explain:

  • Cookies
  • Analytics
  • Advertising
  • User data

Disclaimer

Especially important if your niche involves:

  • Finance
  • Medical advice
  • Investments

Terms and Conditions

This explains how visitors should use your website.

Step 7: Improve Website Navigation

Imagine entering a supermarket where nothing is organized.

You’d probably leave.

Your website should be easy to navigate.

Use:

  • Categories
  • Search bar
  • Menu
  • Internal links

Visitors should find information quickly.

Step 8: Make Your Website Mobile-Friendly

More than 80% of Nigerian internet users browse on smartphones.

If your website looks terrible on mobile devices, approval becomes much harder.

Check:

  • Font size
  • Button spacing
  • Images
  • Loading speed

Everything should display properly.

Step 9: Remove Empty Pages

Don’t leave pages that say:

“Coming Soon.”

Or:

“No Posts Found.”

Google reviewers notice these things.

Complete your website before applying.

Step 10: Fix Broken Links

Broken links create a poor user experience.

Before applying:

  • Check menus
  • Categories
  • Internal links
  • Images
  • Buttons

Everything should work.

Step 11: Add SSL Certificate

Your website should begin with:

https://

Not:

http://

SSL protects visitors and builds trust.

Most hosting providers offer free SSL certificates.

Step 12: Reduce Ads Before Applying

This surprises many beginners.

Some people fill their websites with:

  • Popups
  • Banner ads
  • Betting ads
  • Adult ads
  • Affiliate banners everywhere

Google may consider this a poor user experience.

Keep your website clean.

Step 13: Avoid AI Spam

AI isn’t the problem.

Low-quality AI content is.

If you use AI:

  • Edit heavily
  • Add personal experience
  • Add examples
  • Improve readability
  • Remove repetitive sentences

Your content should sound like it was written for real people.

Not machines.

Step 14: Index Your Website

Before applying, make sure Google can actually find your pages.

Use:

  • Google Search Console
  • XML Sitemap

Check that your important pages are indexed.

If Google hasn’t indexed your website, approval becomes difficult.

Step 15: Get Some Organic Traffic (Recommended)

Many people ask:

Do I need traffic before AdSense approval?

No.

Google doesn’t require a minimum amount of traffic.

However…

Having some organic visitors shows that your website is active and useful.

Even 20–50 daily visitors from search engines is a positive sign.

How to Apply for Google AdSense

Once your website is ready:

Step 1

Visit the Google AdSense website.

Step 2

Sign in with your Google account.

Step 3

Enter:

  • Website URL
  • Payment country
  • Contact details

Step 4

Submit your application.

Step 5

Google reviews your website.

The review usually takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on your site and review volume.

Common Reasons Nigerian Websites Get Rejected

Let’s look at the biggest mistakes.

Google detects plagiarism surprisingly well.

AI Content Without Editing

Mass-produced articles usually offer little value.

Poor Website Design

Messy layouts reduce trust.

Missing Legal Pages

Privacy Policy and Contact pages matter.

Too Many Errors

Grammar mistakes reduce professionalism.

Low-Value Content

Articles that simply repeat what everyone else has written rarely stand out.

Should You Buy an AdSense-Approved Website?

Many people ask this question.

The answer depends on your goal.

Buying an already monetized website can save time if:

  • The traffic is genuine.
  • The content is high quality.
  • The site hasn’t violated AdSense policies.
  • The earnings are stable.
  • Ownership can be transferred safely.

However, don’t buy a website just because the seller claims it earns money. Always verify the traffic sources, revenue history, and policy compliance. A cheap site with fake traffic can cost you far more than starting from scratch.

How Long Does AdSense Approval Take?

There is no fixed timeline.

Some websites get approved in a few days.

Others may take two to four weeks or longer.

If your site is rejected, don’t panic. Read the reason carefully, fix the issues, and apply again when your website genuinely meets the requirements.

Tips That Can Improve Your Chances of Approval

Here are a few practical tips that many successful publishers follow:

  • Publish consistently before applying.
  • Focus on solving real problems instead of chasing word counts.
  • Use original images or properly licensed images where needed.
  • Make sure every page loads without errors.
  • Write clear titles and meta descriptions.
  • Avoid publishing dozens of low-quality articles in a single day.
  • Review your website on both desktop and mobile before submitting.

Small improvements across your entire website often make a bigger difference than one major change.

Final Thoughts

If you’re serious about how to apply and get AdSense approval in Nigeria 2026, stop looking for shortcuts.

There is no secret button that guarantees approval.

Build a website that people genuinely want to visit. Publish original, helpful content. Organize your site well. Include the important pages Google expects, and make sure everything works properly before you apply.

Treat your blog like a real business, not a quick money experiment. When you focus on quality first, AdSense approval becomes much more achievableβ€”and you’ll be building a website that’s positioned to earn consistently over the long term.
